Soft shell protective fabrics are used for providing protection against the elements while remaining lightweight, flexible, & breathable. These are made using a combination of synthetic fibers such as polyester, nylon, & spandex. Two main salient features are water resistance and wind resistance. For repelling rain and moisture, the fabric is treated with a durable water repellent (DWR) finish. Soft shell protective fabrics are breathable, which allows moisture & sweat to escape while still keeping the wearer warm & dry.
